Whitecaps GameDay Gallery - May 18

Cascadia rival Portland Timbers arrived in Vancouver for a Saturday tilt with the Whitecaps accompanied by roughly 400 members of the Timbers Army. After a massive win last Saturday and a very important draw on Wednesday the Whitecaps were looking to keep building upon this positive momentum. Unfortunately, Major League Soccer officiating derailed the Whitecap's plans for consecutive MLS victories and left the homeside with just a single point after 90 minutes.

On a side note we also learned that Will Johnson, Canadian or not, is now a hated man in this city. Click through to see the gallery and some low-brow commentary!

Whitecaps GameDay Gallery - April 27

Although a gutty second-half performance by the Whitecaps resulted in a draw, I left the building, as I am sure many fans did, a little unhappy. Full credit to the Whitecaps for a strong performance but FC Dallas demonstrated a brand of soccer that is simply not what North American sports fans want to see. Dallas must be the first opponent to like the artificial surface at BC Place because they spent an awful lot of time laying on it after many embarrassing flops. Anyways, please check out the gallery because we managed to acquire some great shots of the action!

Welcome, Mr. Furlong!

He's all ours. Former 2010 Winter Olympics chief John Furlong has signed for the Vancouver Whitecaps. Furlong will be joining Bob Lenarduzzi, President, and Rachel Lewis, Chief Operating Officer, as the new Executive Chair for the club. Fantastic news in terms of leadership, perhaps a bit dodgy in terms of involvement in pregame ceremonies. Luckily the 'Caps don't employ any hydraulics.

Boulevard Chatter: Matt Watson the Gooner

As Whitecaps fans, we are lucky to have a team full of guys who are not just quality on the field, but approachable and good natured off it as well. I had the luxury of being able to talk to some of the players after the game against D.C. United, and was thoroughly entertained by the responses that I was given. Particularly when it came to Matt Watson.

Pia's Corner: Women's Time to Shine

Little did I know that what started off as a favour to help a co-ed intramurals soccer team in need of another female to complete their roster, would lead down a path of love for the game (not to mention becoming an 'Arsenal wife'). Five years later, I now play the game and fully appreciate its beauty - so much so that my husband and his friends have convinced me to write down some thoughts for all of you to read.

Post-game Pint: Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Montreal Impact, 3/10/12

We play the beautiful game for many reasons: camaraderie with your mates on the field, the thrill of a team victory, or simply for the love of the game. But sometimes the best part is celebrating, or commiserating, about the game's result with the guys you just busted your hump with for 90 minutes (give or take) over a nice pint of beer. In honour of this age-old tradition...

Rules for the 2012 Season

In an ongoing effort to improve the profile of the club on and off the field, the Whitecaps have compiled a list of rules that will govern their actions over the course of the season. These rules were developed as a way to avoid some of the more critical mistakes from last season as they move into Round 2. While any inaugural season is sure to have its share of bumps along the way, the Whitecaps have decided to learn from past incidents and try to rectify them....

Preseason Primer - Midfielders

For part three of our Preseason Primer Series we will be turning our attention to the midfielders. Keep in mind that there are some players who fall into that grey area where they may be used as midfielders or strikers depending on how they perform and what formation Coach Rennie uses. The breakdown for these positions in this post reflects where they are expected to play at the start of the season, assuming Rennie continues to use his preferred 4-3-3 (or 4-2-3-1 depending on how you visualize it).
